DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 1100 PM HST (0900 UTC), the center of Post-Tropical Cyclone Lala was located near latitude 38.2 North, longitude 179.4 West. The post-tropical cyclone is moving toward the north-northwest near 6 mph (9 km/h). A gradual turn toward the west-northwest is expected to begin soon, and Lala is forecast to cross the International Date line on Friday. Maximum sustained winds remain near 40 mph (65 km/h) with higher gusts. Slow weakening is expected, and Lala is forecast to dissipate in a couple of days. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 115 miles (185 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1003 mb (29.62 inches). Satellite imagery indicates that Lala is losing its associated shower and thunderstorms activity, and it is likely to become a post-tropical low this afternoon or tonight.
